Promotion & Marketing = the degree of response

Basically, what you put in is what you'll get back. Adequate promotion is a necessity for success. Why have a web site if no one can find it.

We can break promotion/marketing down into two basic categories . . .

Online Promotion & Marketing

This is the advertising and promotion done on the web.
You need to start by having your site indexed on the major search engines
and web directories on the internet.
Authentic Designs etc. uses a reliable service called Submit-it from
Microsoft which registers your site to over 400 of the top search engines,
resubmits it automatically to insure it remains listed, and verifies your
listings with monthly statements for just $59 a year.
There are a lot of free services as well that will register you site to
15 or 25 search engines (depending on which service is used).
These services have no guarantees. One always has to be on the lookout
for new directories or search engines where your site can be listed.
AD etc. can take care of this for your if we continue to maintain your site .
Another free sources of promotion could be listing your site on
internet malls, marketplaces, and on-line bulletin boards.
Some other paid sources for promotion are:
1 Web sites that will let you promote your site by charging you to put
a link on their site to yours.
2 Consider putting a links page on your site. This is a directory of links to other
sites that either pertain to your field of business/organization or are just
interesting. This could make visitors bookmark your site for these references.
3 Some of the larger search engines are charging now to have an enhanced
or bold faced link.
4 You can purchase banner ads on other web sites.

You may want to set aside a budget for these in the future.

Offline Promotion & Marketing

Make sure your web site address (url) appears on everything pertaining to
your business/organization:

3 Brochures
4 Invoices, statements, proposals, purchase orders
5 Promotional gifts (pens, keychains, coasters, etc.)
6 Any type of advertising or media
7 Mailing to all your current and past clients
8 Make sure all employees/volunteers know your web site address.
9 Tell everyone you know about your web site and pass out business cards
with its address.
